First Post - v0.61 Release and Free Download
INTRO
Hello! I'm a solo developer looking to make my childhood dream of creating a video game into a reality. My aim is for a game with great art, great characters, great music, and that has no IAPs, ads, or anything else that takes away from the game.
I've been developing this game for about 9 months, and have reached the point where I want to show the community and have folks try it out.
CURRENT STATUS
The art, basic gameplay, and music have had most of my focus so far. The character art is all custom made with great care, and the music is properly licensed performances of beautiful classical music. Character ideas are no problem, as I've been running tabletop RPGs for many years and have a long roster of characters to pull from. Characters created by my players are used with their permission!
Lots of ideas for the story, but I only have about 30 conversations in the game currently, that will be one of the next really big things to tackle. My intent is to have the main story be fairly minimal, with the bulk of the conversation coming from the characters interacting with either other. The tone is positive, the conversations between characters won't be full of drama and scheming but rather finding how they can work well together, sharing a meal, and just having fun. With 60+ characters, there are a lot of interesting combinations of characters to explore!
My 1st grader plays this too, so there's no cursing, nudity, or otherwise inappropriate content.
DEVELOPMENT
I'm using GameMaker Studio 2 and have custom coded all the systems. I typically just work on whatever sounds most fun to me at the moment, so not following a strict timeline. If the development stops being fun, it becomes work!
